AfrISPAs proposal forwarded to ARAPKE for consideration is the African Internet eXchange System (AXIS). This project aims to support the work of the African Internet Services Providers Association (AfrISPA) in facilitating the establishment of a truly African internet infrastructure through providing policy & regulatory reform, capacity building, technical assistance for ISP Associations and Internet Exchange Points in Africa. |

This is a joint project between AfrISPA and NEXT SA, Senegal for the creation of an Internet Exchange Point for West African and Senegal. It is financed by the World Bank through its management PPIP under the authorization of Agency of Regulation and Telecommunication and the post (ARTP). The purpose of this project is to study the possibility of putting in place a national / regional IXP project in order to promote private investments (PPIP). CURRENT POSITION The contract for this project was signed on 4th February 2008. AfrISPA, NEXT SN together with World bank will be releasing a press statement soon to this effect. Validity of this contract is one year renewable on mutual agreement. |
